Explore the Guernsey sketchbooks of Victor Hugo (Les Miserables, Hunchback of Notre Dame) now on view in “Astonishing Things,” at London’s Royal Academy of Art. Van Gogh called Victor Hugo’s ​(Les Miserables) sketches “Astonishing Things,” Explore ​​his ​wild landscape​s ​created while in exile on Guernsey and now on view at London’s Royal Academy of Art.​ We’ll take inspiration from ​h​is mixed-media techniques to build ​sepia-toned atmospheric ​c​ompositions, working from ​l​ocal scenes or a reference image​.
