Taking inspiration from Cézanne, we’ll explore everyday objects a subject matter. We’ll take you through the basics of mapping a composition in pencil followed by application of watercolor to complete a basic on paper in a single session.

Join us as we look at work by GEORGIA O’KEEFFE and her abstract paintings inspired by desert landscapes of the Southwest. We’ll focus on brush handling and interactions of pigment on paper playfully letting go to find the flow.

PART II: Multiple-Objects in Nature (Composition). Successful landscapes convey distance and atmosphere using mass, tone and lines in a decisive arrangement of elements. You’ll select a “local scene” at the Old Stone House and create an original landscape composition using a style “after Corot.”
