Anders Zorn Palette
Yellow Ochre, Vermillion, Lead White, Ivory Black
SESSION I: We start with an art historical overview of Zorn’s work — focusing on his landscapes and portraits in oil or watercolor and a brief history of the limited palette. Zorn was not the first but certainly a most notable practitioner, and with his virtuoso alla prima brushwork and ranks high amongst his well-known contemporaries — John Singer Sargent and Joaquín Sorolla.
Following a presentation of Zorn’s work, we’ll proceed with palette mixing exercises and build the first of two limited-color reference charts:
Chart 1) Yellow Ochre (Y), Vermillion (R) + White (W)
Chart 2) Yellow Ochre (Y), Vermillion (R) + Black (B)
SESSION 1: Online build of Chart 1) Yellow Ochre (Y), Vermillion (R) + White (W)
SESSION 2: Online build of Chart 2) Yellow Ochre (Y), Vermillion (R) + Black (B)
PART II
SESSION 1 and 2: ZOOM, LIVE STUDIO or LIVE OUTDOORS, Dates TBA
